IHOP could be dangerous to your health

If the professional bureaucrats at the FDA are making fast joints print their nutritional information for consumers then surely IHOP should have a bright neon light on their menu to alert their customers about how much they're about to ingest.

I'm not in favor of any disclosure requirements but if you're going to do it for the supposed good of others then please include restaurants like IHOP too. When I travel I much prefer IHOP to Denny's and I'm always amazed by the breakfast menu.
I used to think that there were two basic choices: go the eggs, meat, toast, and o.j. route OR with pancakes or french toast and chocolate milk. At IHOP you get both! And you have to work hard to avoid it with little incentive. If you read the pancakes as an entree description you'll notice you also get eggs and meat. If you look at eggs or omelletes and meat, you also get three buttermilk pancakes. I was able to find the quick two-egg breakfast that excluded the pancakes and it cost almost the same as the others that with 100s more calories.

Until people at IHOP and fast food places have to pay according to how many calories they consume you'll see stories about how America is too heavy.

"real" Mexican food

Since I am married to a lovely native of Mexico City, I am often asked where is the best local Mexican food and which is the most authentic. Sometimes people really want to know and others are just waiting to tell me about their favorite Mexican restaurant. The answer is not as simple as it sounds.

To begin, for me growing up in Michigan, Mexican food was when Mom put some taco seasoning on ground beef, stuffed it into hard shells and topped it off with cheese and lettuce. And we liked it. As teenagers we moved on to Ole Tacos and Taco Bell and it was all good. So that was the original Mexican food for me.

Later, after experiencing food all over Mexico, I gained an understanding of real Mexican food, and it is as varied and complex as any other cuisine. Also it is usually quite different than what you find in the USA. Two basic distinctions are ground beef and burritos, things you won't see in Mexico.

My recommendations are to be open to try new things and figure out what you like the most, and then don't worry about whether it's authentic. The important thing is to get value for your money and to enjoy the food. ¡Buen provecho!
